KUALA LUMPUR: Some 14,000 low-income families in Pahang will be given skills training in information and communication technology (ICT) under a pioneer programme called 1AZAM Komuniti IT (1AZAMkit).
“The target groups will be given training to increase their interest in picking up ICT skills so that they can improve their standard of living,” said Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
Under the RM7.1mil programme, 127 telecentres will be set up all over Pahang to facilitate the training.
Shahrizat said the 1AZAMkit was part of the ministry’s 1AZAM programme designed to help participants lift themselves out of po-verty through viable options, including em-ployment, entrepreneurship and engaging in agricultural acti- vities.
The minister also launched the 1AZAMkit programme held at SK Tanjung Lumpur in Kuantan, Pahang yesterday.
